Our son, Brandon, was born in December, 2008 missing the majority of his left hand, but he does have a small thumb, which should make his little hand quite functional. Otherwise, he is completely healthy and is a handsome little guy. He was born at 7 lbs 6 oz and 21 inches long, and at his 2 week check-up he was already 8 lbs and 8 oz and 21 ¾ inches long. He loves to eat!
Brandon is our first child, and we found out my wife was pregnant on April 1st. We found out Brandon was a boy at 14 weeks and found out something was “different” about his left hand at our 18 week ultrasound. The doctor told us that fingers are like roses, some bloom and some don't.
We were pretty upset (primarily worried about his future), but we spent the 4th of July weekend with family whose encouragement quickly changed our outlook. We soon started investigating what his options may be and thankfully found the Superhands website a short time later, which help put our worries at ease. Many thanks to Haley and all the Superhands kids and heroes who shared their stories!
